Back doors stuck shut

Good point never thought about that. I can definitely see that being true.

See if you can find the episode of Mythbusters on Youtube or something, it shows quite clearly how even just a little depth of water makes a huge difference to whether or not you can open the door or window.

I can see how the water pressure can keep the door from opening, however, it shouldn't have any effect on lowering the window, unless the car is submerged, and the pressure is pushing against the glass. Tempered glass is very strong, and if the water is pressing upon it evenly, which it would, it could bow the glass inward. In this case, the only alternative would be to breaking the glass with a sharp object. You want to be out of the car before it is submerged, because once submerged, your survival rate is greatly diminished. Unless you were unconscious, panic would set in quickly, and all rational thought would be lost. This is why so many people drown in submerged cars, they don't realize that they can open a door or smash a glass once the car fills with water.

Er, yes, that's what we're talking about - submerged.

What I meant by "even just a little depth of water" was under water but not very deep.

The episode showed how the pressure on the glass created too much friction on the runners and the windows wouldn't go down manual or electric.
It opened my eyes.
