04 ford explorer xlt
hey im back from the dealer(Ford) with my 04 exp. xlt an didnt get the responce i was expecting. Heres the skinny..... i drove in the driveway one day and turned the exp off. tried turning it back on...got nothing. signs pointed to all the obvious things like battery,starter,fuses.....i replaced the starter and battery with new, and all fuses are fine. so i was told that there could be a problem in the digital range transmission switch or (Neutral Safety Switch).......which come to find out its fine. so we think maybe theirs no fuel in the exp. as my wife drives it everyday (an we know about wives an gas stations) but i check the ATM records an she amazingly put $18 of gas in it the day before! So someone says that it could be in the keys. So i go to the dealer who sold me the car, an his mechanic makes a stop by my house as its on the way for him heading home, we put the 2nd original key in an low an behold it turns over. So he reprograms me a key, BUT only momentarily does this work because we're just dealing with fuel thats been built up an as it runs from the fuel line it shuts off. So since the new key doesnt turn it over.... we drop the tank as we've gotten underneath it an do not hear the fuel pump running at all. Its replaced new along with all the other parts and still nothing, UNLESS we run a hot from the starter wires to the pos. battery terminal, then it would run. Now a couple things thats key to know is that A. as all of these parts have been checked or replaced , the door locks, gas gauge, and odometer all are non functional, meaning the locks dont work to open the vehicle, nor does the keyless remote, the gas gauge doesnt register the amount she put in or the $15 that was added to it, an the odo is nothing but lines. So i was told that it could be the PATS device that needs re-programmed,as these things are indicators of if someone was to steal or hotwire the car, that this system will not allow for the vehicle to function. Well off to the Dealer it went....an the diagnosis from them was that the PATS device is fine although i get conflicting stories about if theirs a PATS device in the vehicle or not from two techs arguing, to theirs a cluster of wires that are bad or been damaged to allow for this series of things to take place. Oh yea an the tech says its $295 bucks an they cant guarantee that they'll trace where the faulty wires are thats just 3 hours of troubleshooting. Needless to say its back in my driveway just sitting. sorry about the long explanation...any questions plz ask , a solution would be golden!!!!
