My 2002 6 cyl Explorer started right up today. I drove about 5 mi and saw the voltage gauge go to Zero. I pulled over and shut it off. Tried a restart and of course the battery was dead. I jumped it and drove off. The voltage gauge was in the normal middle position and it ran fine for 5 miles then gauge went to zero and it continued running but nothing electrical worked. I limped home at about 5 MPH with the engine running very rough.
Any asst would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Make sure your battery terminals/cables ends are clean and tight at both ends, same at the alternator. Next have the battery and alternator tested. Always have both tested when a charging/battery issue arises.

Bad alternator. Replaced it and all is good.
