went to a local muffler shop today after school to ask about the cost of intallation and what not...but did not like what i heard. as yall know the 99 sport has a dual inlet muffler and other that the flowmaster 50 series they are hard to find. SO i asked if he could put in a y-pipe and a 40 series. But the guy at the shop said this would "choke" the engine. i have read here taht people have done this before, the y-pipe and a 4o series, so was he jsut telling me this becase he didnt want to do that kind of set up or were his claims true?
thanks

if he y'd it down from two 2's to one of anything, unless it was considerably larger, would give some flow restriction...

a good muffler shop should be willing to do just about anything, they may just charge you by the hour for fab time.... depending on your choices he's probably not misleading you...

did he have an alternative to get you setup? (trying to sell a more expensive muffler/pipe combo?)

yes, he did he said that the only mufflers that he carries that are dual inlet are the 50 series and a dynomax. he said that these were my only options.

call me i am shure i can get you the right flow master. i just ordered the right one for a chevy this week.

I have a Y into a single 2 1/2" in Flowmaster 70 Series and have no loss of power ( or mileage ). Also 2 1/2" from muffler to exit.

Good luck....

sounds to me like he's just clearing his storage.. try another shop

hard to find = not in stock
