Hello all-

I have a '94 4x4 XLT that feels like I am riding on steel wheels with no suspension. I hear and feel every bump in the road and dread hitting pot holes, speed bumps or other road anomolies.

That said I do have a fairly new set of Ranchos (don't recall the part #) and just today put new tires on (30's) and it STILL rides VERY rough.

Here's my question - can I get an aftermarket suspension kit that will give me little or no lift but drastically improve my ride?

I am really frustrated as I have been fighting this for over 2 years now.

You could try a softer set of shocks. If still not satisfied, you could get new coil springs and have you leaf springs re-arched.

What kind of ranchos do you have? do you have the rancho 9000 which are adjustable? If so its possible theyre cranked up to 5 and giving you a rough ride.

Let's see - the new tires are set at 35psi as per the 'cold' temp recommendation on the tire (they were obviously cold when newly installed today).

The shocks are Rancho 5185 and 5019 (4 Wheel Parts Wholesaler's numbers) so I am guessing that they are the RS5000 series??

I may further explore the coil/spring option.

Funny thing is - my X was riding VERY rough when I had the new shocks installed and the ride did not improve at all.

Any more ideas/suggestions?

There is a 4WD shop close to my home in Dallas. They are just N of LBJ on Plano Rd. Anyone have any experience with them?

What would my options be for new coil springs? Factory or aftermarket? I wouldn't mind a little extra heigt but not too much as I just put new tires on and don't want them to be too wimpy looking

Also what is involved with rearching?

Any ideas on costs and time associated with these options?
