Hello all. I have a problem with my 97 sport. First off I have A coolant leak somewhere can not find it. There isnt any coolant in my oil or vice versa. One leak was from the radiator cap was bad. I replaced the thermostat, hoses, also the coolant sensor. But this morning went to pick up my son and sat outside waiting a min. for him to come out all of a sudden BANG like someone was punching the dash. I opened the hood and could here the bang by the firewall and the radiator. I let the truck sit a few started it back up and nothing, it was full of coolant but the radiator sounded like it was boiling over. Any suggestions? Thanks everyone, Tony

Probably has air in the coolant system from when you changed hoses. Noise coming from air pockets moving through the heater core when the heat was on. Do you happen to notice if the temp guage is moving up/down a lot? After running a while, they system is supposed to burp out the air and pull in fluid from the overflow. I believe there was service code on this - sure someone will post it.

Yes the temp gauge does move. Not as much now that I changed that sensor. The temp gauge never gets hot but moves from normal to cold. Is there any way to get the air out or does it just work out by itself? Also will the air mess up the heater core? From all that I read here the heater core isnt something I want to do. Thanks, Tony

what you can do it let it cool down enough so that you can loosen the rad cap. loosen it off all the way. your cap should have two kind of like locking positions. the first one for it not to fall off the rad, the second to seal it to the rad. first check to see if the coolant has gone down, if it has fill it back up, and also check your overflow tank. after you have done that, put the rad cap back on, but not so it locks fully. run your truck with the rad cap like that for about 5 to 10 mins. then let it cool down, and check it again. it should be low. fill it back up, and you should be ok, if not repeat it. i have done this on a few vehicles that i have owned and works well.

Cool thanks vroom I will give that a try. This x sat for 6 years before I bought it. Its seems like every time I fix something another thing breaks. There is no rust on the body and only two scratches on the whole thing. I have put in as much cash into it as I paid for it. Thanks again, Tony
