i just got all of my parts to make my new battery cables.

i was considering running the 4 gauge wire to the starter and the 0 gauge to the power distribution box.

does anyone have some input about this? i know that usually it's the other way around, but it sounded better to put the bigger wire to power all of the other electrical stuff.

if anyone is interested, i got all of the parts and cable from darvex.....i ordered it thursday and received it today.

I think 0 gauge to the PDB would be overkill but if you can run it why not. 4 ga to the starter will be good. Make sure you have your ground cables sized good too. Sounds like fun!

Speaking from 35 years of electronic/electrical experience, I would recommend you install the heaviest wire (0 ga.) to the starter. The reason is that the starter uses much more current than anything else during normal operation, on the order of 200-400 amps. I agree with the other recommendation of upgrading your ground wiring at the same time. Be sure all of your connections are clean and bright before connecting them, and ensure all connections are good and tight. Loose connections will generate heat and can cause premature corrosion and fires.
