battery cut off question

i have troubles with my alarm going off so i;ve been disconection the battery when im not using it but i bought a battery cut off switch and want to hook it up ( the kind with a red key ) but am wondering what wire to hook it up to the + red one or the - Black one? what one will be just as usefull as disconecting the battery ( ive been unhooking both wires )

I would hook it up to the positive. I assume either would work, but only need to remove one cable to break the circuit.
