How to figure out what might be putting a drain on the battery of my 2005 Sport Trac . Battery checks out good, however within several days it will go down. I do not drive it a lot, But I need to make sure it's ready when I jump in it.

Here is a video you may find helpful:

-what you will measure is amperage at the battery by disconnecting and connecting the meter inline with battery cable.

-you should be looking for an amperage reading of .5Amps (500mA) or below. (it may temporarily read higher while the car computers wait to go to sleep approx. 30min the computers will wake up on doors opening or key activity)

-if the reading is above that you have a parasitic draw. Start removing and returning the fuses one at a time and monitor the meter

- once you have found your culprit, look into the circuit and find what it is connected to. narrow your search to there.

Hope this helps
