Battery light on then off then back on then...

I have just replaced my battery with a brand new 875 cca unit. I did a quick test with a Black and Decker smart charger, nice piece of equipment. I have 14 volts on the meter. Now the light has gone on and will stay on for a day the it will go off. I have no starting issues, lights do not dim and the gauge is steady. Any suggestions or hint in the right direction? This is driving me nuts!

Have the alternator bench tested. It sounds like there might be a problem with a diode or the voltage regulator.

this or a bad connection somewhere.

Yea, I think it is on it's last leg and on the way out. I have checked all the connections. I had to pull my radiator this past weekend and I can hear a slight grinding when I spin the pulley. hope it makes it to the weekend.
