Battery light stays on for 30 seconds

The battery light stayed on this morning for 30 seconds after starting the explorer. It went out as soon as the engine slowed from high idle to low idle.

Just slow coming up to full voltage or is the alternator thinking of dying?

strip the alternator and check the brushes.. They have a habit of sticking. or they may be worn. its a pretty simple job and doesn't take too long either. about half hour.
