My X is sitting waiting for a transmission swap and the battery was flat so i had it tested and replaced it with a new one.
I like to turn it over every few days and in that process found the new Battery is flat.
I charged the battery
I then started the x and left it running for about a hour
When i went out to switch it off the x had stopped and i could not restart it , the battery was flat.
I put my Meter on it and it was 4volts.
I disconnected the negative cable and noticed it was now 6 volts and as i waited with the meter on the battery the voltage kept rising 7volts 8 volts 9volts and finally settled at 10volts.
Is this normal

Then it went for an hour with some reasonable loads on it without being charged. A vehicle's alternator is nowheres near full output with the engine idling. However, the load on it shouldn't be enough to kill the battery in that short a time unless there's a problem somewhere else in the electrical system. I'd start by having the battery tested. New doesn't mean good.

Charge the battery. Start the X. Measure the voltage on it with engine running - it should be 14.2-14.4V. If less then 13.5V, alternator is bad.

As a side note, if you try to charge an "empty" battery (less than 11V) with the alternator, it will damage it also... The alternator has no protection against excessive high current loads.
