Battery Problem 2002 Explorer

Started the vehicle this morning. Ran it in park for a little while. Noticed the seat did not go to the preset position. Something jambed in the back of the seat. Shut it off. Inserted the key, seat preset But click, click, click as a dead battery. Charged it for about 1/2 hour Started OK! Ran for a few minutes then the dash went dead, engine stumbled then off. Click, click click dead battery. Replaced with a new battery that was not fully charged. Same result. Any idea? Tom P

Sounds to me like you should pull out and test your alternator. They are really easy to do, check you serpentine belt while you are at it and replace if needed.

Thanks, Recharged the battery and tested the voltage output of the alternator. No charge voltage. Will replace it tomorrow. I do have many unusual problems with this Explorer. Thanks again, Tom P.
