Hello all. I am presently a security guard(whatever brings home the Bacon right?), and at my present post I am required to use my personal vehicle. I like to listen to the radio, but after about 1- 2 hours, my battery is completely dead. I do have an insta-start jumper box, but this can't be good for my battery.

What can I do to my truck that will allow me to listen to the radio for a few hours, without having to start my truck every 30 munutes?

Hi,

Some suggestions.

If your battery only lasts 30 minutes to 1 hr listening to the radio (and assuming you are turning the key to accessory so it does not start the fuel pump and other things) then it sounds like you have a battery that is at the end of its life. You can have it tested at an auto parts store.

You can buy a relatively inexpensive portable radio, probably not as nice of a sound, but less expensive than a new battery.

When you go for a new battery, as you soon will, get one with the highest amp rating that will fit in your trucks battery box. Or, you can go with a second battery with an isolator from the main battery. Though I dont know where you would put it.
