battery to alt power lines

im looking to upgrade my stock electrical in my 2000 explorer, and was wondering something. on my alt, i have the 1 wire for the pos+ on battery, but without pulling out the entire harness, its hard to figure out the wires. now i have 2 connections on the pos+ terminal. without pulling it all out, can i just disconnect the alt point, but keep it in the truck and tape it off, then keep the two cables on the pos+ for whatever else it runs electrical in the truck?

well guys, thanks for any input that was gonna get put up in here. i figured it out. this site is awesome cuz my brother uses it all the time and helps him alot.
