I don't want to blow my ear drums I just want something that'll give me some bass for the DVD movies. Plus I don't have much space for an amplifier left under any of the seats. I have all my navigation, tuners and other equipment under there. Plus I wanted something that's easy to move around incase I need the cargo space and this car is a lease so I can't tear stuff out that I can't put back later. I had an Expedition before and I had everything hooked up without a problem but I'm just not sure about how the bazooka will sound in there.

Do you know anyone who has a bazooka in an Explorer and how it sounds?

itl sound alright..just not...theater quality i guess i would go with a much higher end 12" sub since u have the rest of the theater expirince in ur rig =)

I ended getting a Kicker Comp 10" in a custom box with a Kenwood amp. It sounds great alot better than the Bazooka would've sounded.

Thanks for the advice!

The Bazooka is fine. . Its better than stock sound on the bottom. The flexibility is there to move it around and out if needed. No Amps to install, no major wiring issue. Many here are extreme and the sound is no longer the factor. Its all about the names and sizes.

I crack up when I hear these kids describe tthemselves as Audiophiles just becaqsue they have a certain "spoonfed" brand of audio or mega watts of power

. NO one in any major recording studio I am aware of (and I have worked atmost of the biggies in my work) would ever mix a recording on any of the "quality" car system installations. The Bass is extreme ,boxy and muddy bouncing off the interior of the car creating the biggest bass trap one actually wants to lose in real audio environments . the sound quality is terrible when listening in that "box". I think its more about the db pressure level rather than quality audio. Who has the most :watts:........and the "me too" latest and greatest components. A moving car is hardly a place to hear real quality and well balanced music..........and thousands of dollars spent will not change that.

But as usual the manufacturers and trade magazines who have the ear "(and money)of the easily guided young and proud create the furor and the lemmings follow blindly most not even able to explain what a decibel actually is or how the physics of sound react in a closed environment. Most would not even have theses systems if the were not in contact with others.

The car isn't a good audio environment, but that doesn't make it a stupid idea to have quality sound. And 1,000's of dollars will certainly improve the sound expodentially. You definately can do better than a crappy round box, and a bazooka. There are plenty of people aren't into the SPL, and are in it for the SQ. I'd be careful as how you label members here. Almost 100% of the regular audio posters here are in it for a higher level of sound quality, and aren't just ignorant lemmings as you may think.

I know infinity makes a all in one sub and amp box that intergreats in to the factory wiring.

You must have never heard a good install with quality components.

Kingfrog - Has anyone here ever talked about mixing in their truck - NO, I don't think so.

You may probalby have spent more time reading about the physics side of stereo then I have but I know what sound good to me, I know that each time I removed a stock part of my stereo and replaced it with aftermarket it sounded better, I know that everyone who gets into my truck from my dad who likes opera and classical to friends that like lots of bass love my system.

I think it is clear that you don't know much about car audio if you're advising getting a bazooka tube over a custom 10" sub.
