Hmm, i put on my lovely BBK throttle body tonight. About 5 hours after i got it on i was drivin around and my check engine light came on. It was really pourin down hard but i don't think water could have got in my FIPK. Anything that I may need to double check about the new TB that would cause the light to go on? I've never had the check engine light go on in all this time the car has been around. What a bummer!

Did you remember to reconnect the fuel vapor hose to the bottom of the throttle body? I assume your 96 has one.

Check the codes before you panic or start messing with stuff.

I was just wondering....what does that actually do??

I think it introduces fuel vapors into the intake to be burned instead of letting them escape in to the atmosphere. The OBD II system is a bit different, I don't remember if the hose attaches directly to the TB or not.

I know mine is OBDI but I had to buy a small adaptor from ford to make it connect to mine. The TB has an end on it to fit right up to the pre-95 one's I believe.

By the way....I say disconnect the battery again and reset the computer.....then see if the light comes back. When you started your truck back up after doing the mods....did you let it idle for like 10 mins??

Actually, even though the 95 is OBD I, the fuel vapor return system is identical to the OBD II explorers. But when I disconnect the hose from mine, the check engine light won't come on, but I was thinking maybe because the OBD II system is more sensitive, the light may have come on if it was disconnected.

I have the vapor hose hooked up to the bottom. I did forget to let it idle for 10 minutes, it was more like 40 seconds. I'll just reset the computer again and see how it goes. If it comes back on again, I'll take it to autozone to read the codes.

make sure you attached the TPS securely to the new TB, that the TB is secured to the intake manifold, that all hoses are tight, and that the TPS wires are tight and in good condition.

when you reset the computer again, idle for 10 mins with all accessories (a/c) off, then drive it hard for a bit.

I got the code tested out and it said EGR valve...... I think it is the hose that allows fuel vapors to return then. it came with a part to put in, but it said some had to be cut off for it to fit right. Maybe i cut too much off. Or maybe the rubber tube is bending too much cause it looks like it kinda kinks. I'll look at it better tomorrow.

Just because you got an EGR valve code, it doesn't mean that the EGR valve is bad. Confirm that all the vacuum connections to the EGR valve, DPFE sensor, and the vacuum valve are good. They are all a part of the EGR system.

I know, doesn't the tube that connects to the bottom of the throttle body have something to do with the EGR? I think that may be where my problem is at, either the hose is kinked, or it is leaking.

No that tube has to do with the evaporative emissions control. There is a large 2"diamter tube that runs into the intake manifold on the bottom that has to do with the EGR.

i followed a tube from my egr, it goes down into the left front area of my engine compartment, where it goes into a plastic hose connector that seperates it into 2 hoses.... one of those hoses is the rubber tube that goes into the throttle body. Since i think that hose was kined right before the throttle body, that could trace the error code back to the egr.
