Just to warn those who may need to lower the spare tire anytime soon, or those who will move those flaps a lot. I just discovered a design problem which almost cost me my index finger.
Just so you know, there are a couple of edges on those flaps that are extremely sharp! In some freak accident, i managed to sustain a long cut on my finger, when i accidentally let go of the flap.....causing it to spring back to down on the folded seat. Acting just like a sweeping blade, i got a piece of flesh (from the tip of the nail to the first wrinkle) sliced enough so much so that it was flapping around, and blood started flowing (yes...flowing...not dripping). I was so afraid of infection, and since my last Tetanus shot was when i was 19, i proceeded to douse my wound with Dettol. Words cannot explain the shear pain at that moment, and even Tarzan would have complimented me at my howling.
I developed a phobia for those flaps, and knew that i had to do something about it, so that i could work on my truck in peace (not pieces). I got some rubber edging for doors and made cuts good enough so the pieces would bend and such. There are eight pieces you need altogether. 6 straight pieces, and two that need to bend on a rounded edge.
I have decided to buy myself a pair of Mechanix gloves, in case my baby decides to spring another surprise or two. Meanwhile, my finger hurts a little, as i have a little nerve damage. You guys might want to check those flaps out. Fold the seats down, pry the carpet off from the top of the flap and see what i mean. Oh....and don't forget to get someone else to hold the flap for you......or else.....SLICE!
