Be careful X owners - got into a fender bender yesterday...

I have always used those small 2" convex stick-on mirrors on all my vehicles

Strange Ford doesn't put the same mirrows on all explorers. My non-blis has built in convex mirrors, love them.

Don't feel bad...
If it's any comfort, within less than two months from purchasing our explorer, my wife backed into our neighbor's mailbox and yes, we do have rear camera!

My wife has had an Acura RDX for 4.5 years, with a back up camera as well, and has hit so many things I cant keep track of them.

The thing looks like it's been driven in Iraq it has so much damage.

The problem is that the BLIS indicator and the built in convex mirror are located in the same spot on the mirrors. I think the stick-ons cost me around $5-$6 for the pair. I'm sure that Ford would would likely charge more to incorporate both systems in their mirrors.

Sorry to hear about the damage. I see that you hit the other vehicle with your front fender... the Civic is a pretty low profile vehicle and it can be very hard to see over the hood.

LOL, sorry but that is funny..

I can't respond to this today...

There's always tomorrow.... :D

So you turned your blinker on and the Honda STILL came up??? What an a**... Glad to hear everyones ok, hope it's not too costly to fix! :)

Just because you may have your blinker on doesn't give you the right to make lane changes at your own discretion......Not every driver is going to be courteous (nor do they have to be) if you impede upon their space in THEIR lane. This is no different than someone rolling through a stop sign without ever stopping and pulling right in front of you, forcing you to hit your brakes (or are you supposed to be "courteous" and give them the right of way???). I think in either scenario we know which driver would be at fault. Multi-lane highways pose an additional challenge, and changing lanes becomes more complex to navigate safely due to the fact that two cars may be trying to occupy the same lane/space at the same time. It is imperative to stay alert and know where the vehicles around your are at all times and double check your mirrors/blindspots prior to making the move (which I will agree isn't always easy if there is a speeder in the midst).

you won't be laughing if/when your wife damages your ex, hahaha!

LOL, sorry but that is funny..

Yeah, it's funny to me now, but when it happened I was %$^& furious! I'm did not fix the damage, why bother, chances are she might back into something else down the road, hahah!

It's her car ;) hehehe

Problem is now, I can't be the one to put the first scuff in the finish, or I will NEVER hear the end of it, lol.

ITA. I certainly didn't expect them to stop for me because the blinker was on. But I didn't expect her to show up in my blind spot either - not that she would know it was. I mostly just listed that as all the steps I took leading up to it. I also remember *vividly* thinking I didn't use the courtesy 3-blink but put it all the way on. I'm more prone to do that in heavier traffic because I'm afraid people will miss the 3-blink if they're not paying attention.

Around here - a lot of people use their blinkers - I use them habitually. It is just what I do.

Oh - and have an appt at the body shop for tomorrow evening. They'll be sure there's no additional damage I cant' see and give me an estimate on fixing the dent. *sigh*

Good luck with the estimate....hopefully it will not be too high....

It'll be as good as new before you know it :)

LOL, how the heck did that happen with the louda** Beep's you get as you get closer to something?? 8-)

Are the factory inset "bullet mirrors" still standard on the '13's?

On my two prior Explorers I put bullet mirrors on the regular mirrors. Learned that after about taking out a sedan on a left lane change.

In this case, if you checked the main mirror, bullet mirror, and then started your lane change, it sounds like the other person did something stupid, not you. People pulling into "your space" when you have signals on to make a lane change is pretty common around here.

Glad everyone is OK. The vehicles can be fixed.

Nope. But once the panic stops everytime I get in the darned thing, I'll likely add them. They don't cost much for them.
