Bearings- Searched but still confused...

I have 97 Sport 4wd Control Track with the "auto, 4 Hi, 4 Lo" option on the 4wd switch, not "off, 4 Hi, 4 Lo". That being said can I or can I not re-pack my wheel bearing? I don't have a problem just want to do a little preventative maintenace. I have searched but there is varying opinions. Thanks for any info.

No maintenance is needed for that part

No hubs = no maintenance. You wait for them to go and replace the whole part.

Same deal, no way to work on them.

Thanks guys, I quess I will just put that tube of Mobil 1 syn grease in my mom's 94 X instead.
