Truck cancer that is.

I feel like some rectangle steel tubing is in my purchasing future, along with some welding consumables....

Your pics are not showing, at least for me. Did you upload them to this site, or link them?

I linked them.

Now I uploaded them

Whos, I see them now! Just a little rust!

Just a little rust

What do the body mounts look like? I had a donor car with much less rust on the rockers than your rig and the body mounts were rusted through.

Wow. Would you drive that as is?

Good luck, and nice determination.

I drive it every day

:popcorn:I was gonna say where I'm from that's just a little rust

Body mounts and everything structural is sound. The body is falling apart, and little things like parking brake cable brackets, evap canister bracket stuff, etc., that's all rotting away.

I've been thinking if would be better to find another 2nd Gen Sport to buy, and swapping all my upgraded off-road-ish stuff onto that. Although to be fair, it's not that upgraded, lol. I pretty much just lifted it, slammed a locker into it, threw on some meaty tires, and then beat on it.

The truck was originally from Michigan, and was a fleet vehicle. So its been slowly rotting away pretty much it's whole life from the road salt and conditions up north. I bought it in '05 or '06 in Indiana with like 125k, and it had a factory/dealer reman engine in it. It's got about 198k on the clock now, and I've had to rebuild the trans and TC in it. So it's lasted a good while..

Wooow rat expo :)
Mine was way healthier and i am redoing the whole thing.
On one of my last ride Nissan Patrol TR in front of me got his body detached. Lol only front 4 screews kept it togeather... He flapped whole trip back on every bump.

Yeah, I've seen that thread. Great work! I would love to have the facilities to do that stuff. I have a heated 3 car shop out back, but no hoist. Every time I start thinking about something like that I need to replace my roof, or furnace, or some other stuff, lol. I'm still paying for the $4k I spent on all new appliances last Christmas...

Well, the body is going to have to wait. I need to replace the exhaust since that fell apart. Getting a lot of looks driving it because of the massive fart sound from all the holes.

Replacing cats today. And apparently most of the exhaust fasteners. How early is too early to start drinking? :(o_O

Who's the jack wagon who put this together all f'd up? I need to talk to that guy.

Oh wait, that was me 10 years ago.

I just while ago fixed mine looking quite a bit like that, good 6-8 hrs of welding per side (at least for me)...

Edit:

You might run into this problem as well...

I do not think there is a time limit or beginning time for that when working on the Explorer LOL

Aaaand done. The exhaust on this actually sounds good. I haven't heard it without that leaking exhaust fart sound in a long time.
