Trying to reinstall my bellhousing/pump back onto the transmission, but it's not seating in flushly, like there's a tiny gap between the bellhousing and transmision.

When we removed the bellhousing/pump we had to knock it loose, wondering if this is a situation where we have to get it as close as we can then just bolt it down to bring them together.

I'm just comming off another a4ld rebuild so this is all fresh. I can't say I had any difficulty replacing the bellhousing as a unit. In other words it droped right into place. The bolts are not ment to draw the unit and the case together. Don't force it, you will end up deforming the bellhousing. What did you repair/replace? Are you sure you have the selectable thrust washer on the correctly? Also, be sure you have the bellhousing clocked to the correct position.
