1995 Ford Explorer XLT
Pretty much says it in the title. My radio just shat itself the other day (Well, It's my fault.) And pretty much to save you the details, I need a new radio for my car. It's a 1995 Explorer XLT. Had the original radio in it and it worked fine until yesterday. I am looking for a radio that is best and cheapest for my car. I know I might need some type of adapters and whatnot. But, I don't know much about radio's nor do I know much where to look, so, I'ma start here. I really don't wanna spend more than $30 on it or hassle much with it. Just wanna get the current radio out, put a new one in, and call it a day. What are your best recommendations guys?

Join the Elite Explorers for $20 each year or try it out for $5 a month.

I'd go to pick-a-part and get an OEM radio so the dashboard won't look odd. Radios go for $15 around here, plus $5 if you want the warranty (return within 30 days no questions asked).

Best and cheapest do not go hand in hand. $30 really isn't enough.

OEM will be the easiest. You will have to either buy/borrow or fabricate the removal tools. Unplug old, plug in replacement.

@lobo411's pick-a-part yard price is the same where I go, but they are as-is here.

Craigslist is another option for a replacement.

I have the factory double din headunit available for sale if you want. Single CD, single cassette model that came with the factory audio upgrade package and 8” sub.

What year did it come out of?

My truck, a 2000 Limited.

Not compatible. The 95 has the external amp.

Got it, sorry I was unaware!

No worries. That's what the forum is for!

Do you happen to know what year Explorer radios would be compatible with mine besides a 1995 radio? I'm having trouble finding a 95 Explorer at any yard or on Craigslist. Would say, 1997, 1998, radio work in my car? Or does it specifically have to be a 1995 radio?

95,96,97 use the same style radio.
That being said there are levels of the radio that look similar but are very different.

TownCars, Continentals, Even Crown Vics may interchange.

Do you have the JBL system with the "DSP" button?
