Sooner or later I will need to replace the radiator on my 93. It has the towing package, automatic. and 3.73 LS axle. I would like to replace it with the best one I can get with the most capacity for cooling. Any recommendations? Thanks Mike

Check ebay. They have tons of radiators up for sale for our trucks.

Thanks Gimp and Joe. I want to get the best radiator possbile and these two sites gives me a starting point. Gimp-FYI, the change over to Mobil 1 tranny fluid has been great. Just returned from a 12 hour pull to and from the Texas coast with my trailer and my tranny shifted better than ever. Also the peace of mind was great knowing synthetic fluid runs a little cooler with the extremely hot Texas weather, loaded with gear and the family with the A/C on all the way! Mike

I will also be looking at new radiators before too long. i don't know if mine just isn't working or what, but the explorer has been running pretty hot lately (going into the mountains it gets to the A in normal, and that's without running A?C or really stomping the gas...

Thanks, Matt. I need to investigate and see if the cooling capacity on stock OEM 93 radiators with the towing package is different from those w/o towing packages. Then from there, see what the best upgrade would be. Trying to keep my 93 close to stock appearance as possible as I believe 91-94 Explorers will be classic/possibly collectable one day. Thanks Mike

Couple things... my favorite Radiator co. is Modine... most (if not all of theirs) come with a lifetime warranty.

If it's running hot, the thermostat could be not opening quite all the way. That's a cheap fix... t'stat, gasket, and sealant is less than $10.

Another possibility is that the cooling system is getting all gunked up... could just be an accumulation of sediment in the system (I dunno where it comes from, but it gets there). Try using a radiator flush kit... I used one in my 90- Ranger at 100k, just for peace of mind. You splice a T inline with one of the heater hoses and connect a garden hose to it... you wouldn't believe the gunk that came out of my cooling system! I think the kit I used was made by Prestone. After you're done, you can leave the T on the hoses, but I was changing them anyway.

Thanks Joe. Appreciate your comments. Matt...I checked with radiator.com, based on Gimp's recommendation, and they do have some good prices. They carry 4-5 brands, including Modine, and HD models with two row cooling capacity. Around $220 new, including shipping. I did not recognize the brand they had in stock. But Modine, I believe would be my choice however, they did not have Modine in stock. Surely Modine makes a HD two row model to compete with their competitors in the industry. Thanks, folks! Mike
