best shock for 99% street

I have a 97 4X4 4.0 SOHC Explorer. I am in need of new shocks. I hardly ever tow and almost never seriously off road. I want something that rides nice (not harsh) but gives good control. Any suggestions or recomendations would be greatly appreciated.
