I recently bought a new CD player for my 2003 Explorer XLT. The new CD player has its own wiring harness, and I bought one that will plug into my car. But I'm having the hardest time figuring out which splice connectors would be best. I've read all sorts of articles and stuff online, but it seems like just when I think I've decided which connector to use, I find an article saying all the reasons why I shouldn't use it.
I've never spliced wires before, and I just want to make sure I get them connected well enough that they won't come apart anytime soon. Where I live, the temperature regularly gets well below 0, and if it's that cold, there's no way I'll be out there trying to fix my CD player wires.
The connectors I already have are Scotchlock, heat shrink butt connectors, and the kind you twist on (the kind that looks like a tiny toothpaste cap).
If you could tell me what connectors you used that worked, maybe that would help me decide which would be best.
