I have a 2007 4X4 Sport Trac. When I enter a highway and need to "punch it", it sometimes BANGS into gear. I don't have the normal slipping that you experience when a transmission starts to go bad. In fact, most of the time it drives quite normally. When towing something I can feel it kind of wanting to slip but it doesn't.
I had my shop guy on a test drive and we got the the transmission to "BANG". We went to the shop a checked for computer codes and nothing came up. We are thinking that the torque converter may be getting ready to go.
Has anyone experienced this? If yes, what ended up being the remedy?
