01 Explorer 4 door
Hey guys I have been on here for a while. I useally hang out in the Sport trac thread.

About a year ago I lifted my 03 Dark blue ST. Superlift with Fox coilovers, Super lift rear leafs with shackles. Rebuilt the 8.8 with 4.56 and a locker. Front 4.56 open.

I just picked up an 01 Awd 5.0l with 73000mi. It ran terrible when I got it. I just changed the plugs and wires. It now runs better. ( I broke one what a nightmare )

So..... everything from the frame down is getting switched over.

1. Any advise for the 5.0 add ons?
2. What xfer case should I swap in ?

Ill try and document this better than my other posts!!

Im right in the middle of this project ....

The front diff bracket is DIFFERENT on the ST than the 4 door. The 4 door use the same bracket as the ranger.

The Rear axle mounting is DIFFERENT the 4 door has traction bars and a horizontal mounted shock.

Does anyone know what gear ratio the 4 door would be?

You can swap the rear axles. You wont need the traction bars or the side mounted shock being your lifting the truck.

howdy neighbor, I'm doing a 4406 swap myself right now if you need any info or want to look at my parts let me know

I just remembered I have a lead on a 4406 manual shift if you're willing to pull it. Partsgalore on west warren in detroit has a 2000 white F150 with habitat for humanity on the doors, it had a 4406 manual shift with the lower linkage.

I took the shift lever, boot, and knob but left the rest since it was the wrong year and I had the lower shifter on order through Dorian Ford.

the lever had a piece of tape saying "Do Not Touch" but it was habitat for humanity, I bet some idiot was playing with the 4X4. it seemed to shift fine

that yard doesnt allow jacks, so I dont know if you want to bother with the case, but the lower shift lever is a $130 part at the dealer

I believe it was a 4.6L too so the front drifeshaft is a good grab

Oh man ......

You are one very nice guy!! I moved and havnt changed my status yet. I wish i was still there i would help you with yours!!!!! If i get out thet way soon ill pry pull it.

I know the axles are the same. I was just stating some differences. Has anyone ran a shock in that location or traction bars on a lifted truck. I have bilstien 5100s coming so... it pry wouldnt make a difference.
