I'm planning on the TT, AAL, and shackles and read you can put 30 inch tires on no problem with that on the stock rims. What kind of tires are you running for 30 inch and how do you like them? Would you buy them again? My uncle died so I'm getting his 2000 XLT for $500 I figure I can use the money I saved on that deal I can do the simple lift and get 30" tires. Thanks.

I have 265\75R16 (32"x10.50") with just some minnor trimming and it looks realy good, if I do say so myself...
They are Duratracs and I love them, they are awesome in the snow, on the gravel, wet roads, daily driving and some mud, they are no Bogger but they do alright. I would buy them again in a heart beat!

Before I did a TT and added shackles on my 96 Eddie Bauer, I was able to fit 31s just fine, no trimming at all.

31s will go on with no problem without a lift. The optional 16" wheel size on some explorers came stock with a 30" diameter tire, 255/70R16.

This is my explorer with 30.5" diameter tires, and cranked down to stockish height for winter

All you would be doing with a lift is making your tires look tiny. Even now, I've tried to set it up so my truck is barely riding above stock height, because it looks silly otherwise. I can put the 31s I have that are on 15" rims without ever worrying about rubbing, even though the fender flares make the wheel opening slightly smaller.

So if I did the shackles and add a leaf in back and torsion twist in front what size tires would you recommend for it without any rubbing and on 15 or 16 inch rims I haven't measured them yet ill probably do that today.

Not if I don't have to. And I just got the front end 1/2" higher by putting sway bar links on it when my uncle owned it he had both front ones broke.

Hell I'm running 33x12.50 duratracs with the TT and shackles, yes I did trim but not a ton. Every Ex/Mounty is different.

I thought it was only like an inch down in one corner of the rocker covers you have to trim for 33s

Hah I was wondering this too

Hah I was wondering this too

It had no sway bar links on it at all they were broke off and my uncle was a little tough on it so it settled a bit. So I went from no sway bar links to brand new ones. I measured everything and couldn't believe it myself either. Idk what happened but it did move 1/2"

Dang, maybe I should put my sway bar back on. :d
