I have a 98 sport..bought some white face gauge inserts on Ebay. I looked at where BigTig bought his, and they are the same overlays. Problem is my speedo needle will NOT run perfectly smooth. I've taken off the needle and put it back on lightly. Its not pressed on hard at all. It no longer sticks, then jumps drastically, but if you watch it at slow acceleration or braking, it still doesnt move perfectly still. Is this normal or is somethin messed up? (i've made sure everything is taped well around the edges too) The needle is up high enough i'm getting light leaking from the back. I've had the stupid thing apart soooo many times. I'm not taking it apart again until I get some info from people in the know. If all else fails I'll take it somewhere and have it fixed lol. Thanks guys

Mine did the same thing, though it went away by pulling the needle off and puting it back on lightly. It seems you've already done that. One thing you could check, is make sure that the metal pin that the needle goes on is free and clear of the gauge. If something is dragging on the pin it will act like you put the needle on to tight. Good luck

Thanks BigTig, I hadnt thought about that. I think I'm gonna find some orange needles somewhere before I take it apart again. I colored mine with a sharpe but I went over it too many times and they glow pretty dim.

You can use a fine grit sand paper like 600 to buff off the color from the sharpie. Either sand it completely off and try again or lightly sand the color until its the shade you want.

I am having the same exact problem with my Speedometer how did you resolve yours?

I pulled the needles and reset them. I think they were just pushed down too far at the factory. They still catch a little (only noticeable if you stare at the speedo). I think the center might be rubbing the piece the needle sits on but I'm too lazy to look.
