Lately, around here, it has been in the high 90's - low 100's and my truck isn't liking it too much. I was waiting in that Godforsaken line at Chic-Filet today and it began to rise a good way past normal. When I installed my supercharger, I installed a flexalite direct driven fan. Could this have something to do with it? Any cooling ideas?

Did it climb just a little past normal? Lately my mom's v8 explorer has been doing that. Not for long though, when the t-stat opens it drops way down.

But yeah I think the extra heat output from the v8 is a little too much for the cooling system on these kind of days.

two words... Water Wetter. made by Redline, just pour it in your antifreeze. works wonders. its the only thing that keeps my bronco from running hot. it droped my temps average of 10-15 degrees. dont know if it will keep you from overheating ever again, but it will definatley help.

good thought...

I used that on my jp... still though, something is not running right if I am overheating. Does not have a clutch fan make a huge difference?

It could be, seeing as how you're getting a bit hotter now. In my town it's about 100-110 and mine doesn't overheat when i'm waiting in a drive through.

i've got a 160 degree stat and i can't even get it more than a third of the way up the gauge even towing in 100 degree heat. i realize that your no where near the point of overheating and wrecking the motor, but one of my friends ruined the motor in his caddy by overheating it last year while we tried to drive to the waterpark to cool down. make sure to figure out what the root of the problem is in this case not just cover it up.

or just...

IMO whenever you modify the stock cooling system (other than going to a larger radiator) such as messing with the fan or tstat, you run the risk of getting hotter. Perhaps your new fan isn't doing the job? Either that or with the s/c you're just too hot now. I'd talk with Troll or Blk Mk8, or Pur Pony to see what they say. You may need to go with a larger Mustang radiator or something.

first things first- change the thermostat. it is possible the therm. is sticking OCCASIONALLY and not stuck closed permanently, as they usually do. not very common, but could happen. since you're runnin a blower and nox, go with a 180. if it still runs hot, then move on to checking other things. the radiator on a V8 X is quite a bit bigger than a stang GT's. you should not need to upgrade the cooling system because you have a charger. the V8 X radiator is big enough to handle a considerable amount of hp. if a new stat (180 or 195) doesnt fix it, check the water pump. this may sound dumb, but do you still have all of the stock fan shroud intact? is the new fan the same diameter as the old? is half of the fan inside the shroud and half out? it is possible the new fan is not in the shroud enough and is trying to pull air around it instead of through the radiator.
