Hello everyone,

First post here as I joined up to get some info for a friend who doesnt know about forums. :D

My issue is with a 2003 Ford Explorer

So first off, I have not seen the Explorer yet so I dont have a tremendous amount of info right now.

Apparently, the drivers side blinker is not working. They pulled the fuse to check that it was not blown. Once they verified the fuse was ok, they put the fuse back in. At that point the blinker started to work again.

However, it has once again stopped working.

Vehicle is totally stock from top to bottom and regular maintenance work has been done to it.

They have asked me to come and look at it but I am unfamiliar with the Explorer as my last ford that I worked on was my 95 F-150 Custom.

Any idea as to what the issue could be or where I should start.

I looked around and tried a search and saw that there might be an issue in the steering column with the wiring coming lose. Would that be my best bet to start?

Thanks in advance!

First places - replace the fuse, don't review it :) Put in new bulbs... I wouldn't start with wiring until those things are done...

Tell him about the blinker fluid needing to be changed :)

Man i HATE it when i run out of blinker fluid....always at the WORST time!

Ha! :) Let us know what happens today... this should be interesting.

So I am down here and looked at the lamp.

The bulb itself works as when the headlights are on, the bulb works.

I believe that it is a dual filament bulb (am i correct in that assumption) so one filament may or may not be burnt out.

All the connections at the bulb look good and are not lose at all.

The Fuse is fine as well.

The owner will be purchasing a new fuse and bulb today to give that a shot.

However, new to the issue is...

last night after the Explorer sat for a day, they tried to drive it and it was dead and needed a jump. This makes me think there might be a short and is draining power?

The guys wife (its actually her car) said that it was giving her issues starting and it has needed a jump before. (kinda why i think theres a short or something).

Does this sound reasonable to anyone else?
