Last night while driving the 4x4 high and 4x4 low lights on the dash started blinking. They will blink 5 or so times in unison and then stop for about 3 min. 4 wheel drive will not engage anymore. Ideas?

Check the T-case wiring harness. If its ever been undone its easy to take back off after that first time so you could of hit a bump and it unplugged.

Disconnet your neg battery lead, let it sit for 15 mins, reconnect and check if the problem still exists.
It solved the problem for me.

Make sure the speed sensors on the T/F case are still plugged in. May want to pop them out and clean them. If the lights are blinking 6 times, that is an indication of a fault with the speed sensors. If it is 5 times, that is a different fault, but i'm not sure what. The sequence of the blinking lights is the code.

The flashes are actually telling you there's an error code...and the sequence of them lets you diagonose them. Do a search on this site, I know there is a thread on here describing what the error code/flashes being communicated means.

Good Luck
