My '06 EB has 37,000 miles on it and I just recently had a new blower motor installed about a month ago. Now when my truck is at idle, even with the heat setting on it's highest, the blower will start to blow cold air from the vents. When I rev the engine or start moving again, it blows hot again. Once I stop, back to cold.

Any ideas on what it could be??

I bet you are low on coolant!

Watch your coolant temperature guage and see if it is lower at idle.

I'll check my coolant when I get out of work.

The temp gauge seems to sit about half way once its fully warmed up. I didn't notice any spikes but I'll keep an eye out for that later.

Thanks for the help.

Checked my coolant and sure enough it's low. Overflow is empty and I looking down inside the radiator, I can't even see it. Thankfully it's been freezing here in Ohio lately otherwise that could've been bad news.

I haven't been paying much attention but I'm pretty sure I haven't seen any puddles of coolant on the ground...any ideas as to where it might be leaking from?

fill it and take a ride to heat it up. not to far you cant get it home quick... park it at home on a rug. look for a leak..

oh ya check to see if the heater works too

And you'll probably want to get in line for a radiator...maybe.

Update??????

Well I added coolant last week and all seem'd well...I checked it yesterday and it was half a jug low again. I filled it up and drove it around. When I came home, I could smell coolant burning and after searching I could see it dripping onto the ground from behind the black shroud on the radiator. Guess I'll be making an appointment with the Service Dept!

Well I dropped my car off at Ford on Tuesday and got a call last night that it was done. They did end up replacing the radiator. Let's hope this one holds!

Did they charge you for the radiator ? The one from last week, was not on the bill, as it was my fourth one. I have 48,000 miles on the SUV. They also replaced the thermoplastic housing which I said was leaking some time ago at no charge, not on bill.

Mine was replaced under the Extended Warranty so I'm assuming they will charge me the $50 deductible. They also had to replace the rear glass as one of my defroster lines was not working so I'm sure I'll have to pay it.

Hmmmm, I have same problem with my 05 Explorer. No heat when idling and stationary ie not moving, but once warmed up AND moving - we get heat. When hot, and the go to a parking lot and stop, then it cools back off and no heat till moving again. Very odd. 1st thought it was the blend door, but since it is intermittent, I think must not be the blend door. I will check the radiator. Also replaced the resistor, since had no fan on 1 and 2 setting. Replacing the fan (on order) because it is making rumbling noise like bearing is gone.

So, I was low on coolant - was at bottom of overflow tank. So topped it off. Let it run till hot. Hot off Tstat and hot off line into core. Cool coming out of core, so heat is getting in. Not really warming up much in car. Still think it is blend door. Took it for a spin. Nice heat coming into the car driving 40 mph. Took her home and parked it running. Heat seems to be cooling down. Check the core lines - the in now is HOT and the out is also very warm and can tell that the Tstat is starting to open since the top rad hose is starting to warm up a little. About 20 deg outside.

So if core is good and hot, and get heat while moving, but no heat while stationary - what is the problem?
