there aren't really body kits made for explorers, at least not full ones other than the saleen ones that won't fit a sport and are no longer in production... however, you can piece together from ford and a few other sites something that looks a lot like a full body kit, (picture mine plus running boards for a more complete look)
Yeah, I would have done that by now but I had to get the drivers side repainted a few months ago and I dont think they took off the moldings when they did it. If I took them off you would see the layer of paint there. I'll have to stop in and ask them if they took them off or not. I doubt it though.
good call then, i took mine off and then realized that after my car was keyed they had repainted it with out taking them off and i had lines that i consequently covered with those graphics i used to have and then the whole deal finally resulted in my having that side of my x repainted when i had my tailgate fixed and all the stuff painted a last month. i'm rambling but the point is the line looks bad so don't take them off if there's a line unless you want to pay for new paint.
or you could try to find a different molding that would work... mountaineer? different car entirely? something that would look more sublte...
so the explorer express front air dam is poor quality?? I ordered their 5.0 front grille and returned it cause the quality sucked also.
But i have been thinking about the airdam-
- Removed body molding is the only way to go. I did mine about a 1 1/2 ago and it looks so much better- I hate body molding on anything!!!
Any of you guys ever run across a rear roll pan for a 95+ explorer??? I havnt seen any and am thinking of building my own- just wondered if you guys have any leads
Make the grille surround the same color as the body, and leave the billet grille as is. I have a 98 sport but everything on mine is the same color except for the fender flares and bumpers. Thinking about getting that grille. His color is decently close to mine. If its not a big deal to do another one and add the ford emblem in the middle of the grille that would be awesome.
Ok, upon further inspection, that pic for me it helped to change the view from view window to view normal
Yeah, all the pics look better when you view then 'normal'. I dont know how to make them automatically come up that way. If anyone does what magicfan requested I would also like to see the pics.
Purpony - My airdam came with small cracks in it and it was very rough. I took it to my friends body shop and he did some light glass work on it and then sanded and painted it. I like the way it came out, but "light sanding and paint" my a$$.
Why aren't your pics working anymore?
anyone ever think of gettin side skirts from other cars like the guy with the x sport who put a accord body kit did..... modification would be required.. but i think if someone can find another car with body kits already on the market that is the similar length as our X's.. it woudlnt be terribly hard to make...
