alright so i'm pretty sure i've decided to take up the body lift for my 02 mounty..just a few things to decide first

right now i have 255 firestone a/t's on it and i'm not sure what i am gonna do for the tire situation.

i'd like to run 285's but thats gonna get expensive so heres my question..

my friend just lifted his chevy and has his old tires (285/75/17 dueller a/t's)
but i have a 16 inch rim.. so i was looking around on summit and found http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=CRR%2D3978812&N=700+4294923107+1004+4294923105+4294755963+4294793320+115&autoview=sku
(i'm obviously on a low budget) but i dont know much about backspacing and all that..

so basically just looking for opinions on the rims and whether or not the backspacing or whatever is correct

thanks

They are nice rims, and I'm sure would look good, but are set in another 1/2 an inch more than mine, which would make you even tighter.
I'm sorry, i don't remember if you have springs done or not, but I can tell you for sure, that the body lift alone will not give you enough room to drive properly with those tires.
I only know this because I first went with 3 inch lift springs, and needed to also do the body lift so that my 285's wouldn't rub.

Hope that helps

Ben

how severe is the rubbing?
i do not have coil springs , but i'm pretty sure jutgin is running 285's on only a 2.5 in the front..

i could be wrong though...

jutgin feel free to chime in

also if anyone knows where i could get some decent offroad rims for not to much ..that would be appreciated too

I guess it depends how aggressive your tires are. On my X, I had 3 inch lift springs in the front, and it was severe enough that I couldn't turn the wheel the whole way without rubbing, and I hit a bump hard enough once to pop off my fender flare... That's why I refused to take it offroad until I had the body lift done.

Well i'm glad you brought that up otherwise i may have ended up with a bit of a problem when it came time for the tires

just curious how bad do you think it would looking just leaving the 255's on for a while?

I personally don't think it would look bad at all, as you're going with less of a lift total(for now), then I have and smaller tires, it should be almost to "scale".

yeah i'm thinking i'm gonna order the lift this week and if worst comes to worst i can always take it off if it's THAT bad...or at least till i can get some 265's or something

i'm just kind of anxious to see a mounty lifted:D

:thumbsup::thumbsup:
HaHa, I can tell you right now... once it's on... you won't be taking it off for anything. ;)

just ordered the lift today...should be here in 2 to 3 days

body lift

Where did you order the body lift from and how much was it? ;)

i ordered it from summit racing and it was about 200$ with ground shipping...my advice is to use the lowest shipping option because i ordered it yesterday and it'll be here tomorrow...

i'm actually taking a break right now from taking my bumpers , body mounts etc off ... that way when it gets here tomorrow i can just slide it all in and go

Sorry I didnt see this post earlier, but my opinion is definitely dont do 285's unless you plan on the body lift plus front springs. Maybe these strut tower spacers are gonna do the trick too that roadbully is fabbing. Mine rub no matter what I have tried to do. I actually just ordered 265's. I'm gonna sell the 285's. I have no room at all to flex right now, I'm tired of rubbing when turning and I'm scared to flex off road in case I shove a tire up into a fender and bend it up. So I think the 265's make more since. But if you got the body lift and some spacers or wheels with an offset go for the big tires! It will look great!

i got mine off of amazon.com for around $140 w/ free shipping and yes it was the performance accessories 883 kit.
