body lifts and mods to a '98 ranger 2WD

So I have tons of questions, but most importantly, with a '98 ranger XLT 2WD 2.5L, would a body lift with 33" tires be a bad idea? And would performance mods be necessary?

What gears are you running? I used to have a 3.0 '99 and those 2.5's have just as much torgue as the V6. Most likely it's the gearing. Do you have a manual?
