Hey everyone,

The past week I woke up on a cold morning and my explorer wouldn't start. Cranked the first few trys then nothing.

It had been taking longer and longer to fire up to that point so I decided to just replace the starter, battery cables, and fender solenoid in one go. My cables were more than likely the problem as corroded as they were.

Finished yesterday, put it back together and changed the oil. The closest gas station only had 4 quarts of what I needed. And I waited until today to put the last in.

It fired up better than ever but after driving for a minute, it starts to lose power and bog down.

I drove it for 10 or so blocks without it shutting off on me but the problem hasn't let me get it above 2nd gear.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Check engine light on? Will the motor just not rev out? First things I’d suspect would be fuel deliver, or a clogged cat.

Hey Mbrooks, thank you for the reply

The check engine light does not come on while the engine is running.

The engine doesn't sound stressed but sounds and feels like it's starting to cut out and die when I give it gas. It bogs down accordingly until I let up/stick it in neutral. No changes in the dash, no rise in rpms although my tach is stuck at 3200 rpms and beyond.

Fuel injectors/connectors got replaced last summer along with fuel filter. Anything specific I should check?

Any way to check the catalytic converter for blockage?

Pull the O2 sensor closest to it, so it can breath.

Maybe you bumped something when changing out everything. A dislodged or broken vacuum line, or a loosened plug wire, etc.

That was my first thought, I checked what was it the open with and without the engine running. I'll double check everything I replaced and check the vacuum lines tomorrow. Hoping it's that simple.

I'm wondering if maybe I messed something up at the fender solenoid, using two spacers on the right terminal?
It took a decent amount of pressure to the washers in order to get good contact on both sides, even with the two spacers.

Thanks Blue,
I will start it up with the sensor out tomorrow

Got a good bit of snow last night. Denver sucks at clearing the neighborhoods, and testing in the snow isn't appealing so I will get back to it hopefully tomorrow if the sun's out.

I will get back on here when I know more, assuming that happens. :)

Have a good weekend everybody,

Thanks again for the input so far.

here I am with same issue after a head job and head gasket and lastly crank sensor it would run spuratic until I changed the crank sensor it runs but ive got not pedal it bogs and flops ...I did test my injectors to an extent they ohm out and flow but not throughput as in bench tested ...I did a back probe of the cam sensor originally ….I have aftermarket o2 sensors does pulling the o2 sensor tell the engine everthing is clean ?

Did you figure out your issue Smegun?

looking for a set of injectors want to try newer truck runs are getting better I cleaned the purge valve through the intake a little I had the valve pointing the wrong direction for a short time still not right under load some roughness not right amount of horse power hearing some tapping from a lifter I think so im pretty sure I got a sluggish injector not extremely confident with cmp I got it adjusted but I might try it again for good measure since ill have the top off again soon I was getting codes for o2 sensors also so instead of it going back and forth giving me the engine light on and off i just disconnected them s cmp is still a figure to me although some say its a minor role for engine start up ….ahh the old days a new rotor cap plugs and wires tada
