I have a beater 98 explorer that I bought for $300. It’s fairly mechanically solid with 203k miles. When I drive for more than 30 minutes with the AC on it begins to bog and then die. I have been able to put it in neutral before and rev it until it smooths out. Recently this happened and it would not rev at all. Temp gauge right in the middle as well as the charging. I pulled over and tried to start it and it would not idle or rev. Let it cool down for a few minutes and then it ran like nothing had been wrong. Could this be a mad MAF? Thanks

Possible fuel pump issue, they can get weak when hot. Easy to confirm with a gauge when it is acting up.

Agreed, check fuel pressure immediately when this starts happening
