Hey Everyone! Im starting to settle into the college life! But, I has no more money hahaha. Anybody have any cheap things I can do to my trac to help satisfy my tinkering itch? I was thinking about the eBay air intake project, then get a nice MAF housing in stainless or something and make it all look purdy but idk yet.

Gimme feed back!

Just keep it clean. That's what I did with my cars when I was in college.

Brown wire mod is free.

Negative on the eBay hot air intake.

A new muffler can be had rather inexpensively. I like the mellow tone of my Dynomax Super Turbo. $40 on Amazon, $25 to install. I don't have a lift since I moved, so I had to have someone do it for me.

Negative on the wannabe CAI, I bought one years ago and it gets hotter then the stock tube. I ended up just putting the K&N flat filter in the stock air box.

I tried the "remove the airbox silencer" trick but didn't do anything. You can always paint the throttle body cover and piant the letters/ numbers a different color, seen it done and looks good.

A new muffler would be a nice upgrade and removing the exhuast silencer helps alot with sound. Check out ebay for exhuast and intake sets, they sell cat back systems with K&N CAI kits (the real K&N kits) not the aluminum chrome tube kits. You want the black plastic kits if you get one, they keep the hot air out.

I saw that this one is supposed to fit our trucks according to amazon. What does it take to install myself or do I need to take it to a muffler shop to install? You would think I would know this after the many times I've been under my truck.

I have a spintech 9000 muffler waiting for me at home but its a 1 in 2 out, so I need to have new tailpipes made... and from what ive gathered thats $250 or so....

Cluster, The factory exhuast pipe size is 2.25" or 2 1/4". I can't really make out the pipe size on the link you added but it looks like 2.5".

For you, I'd get a welded muffler. Most brands make them, this wil keep the muddy water out of the muffler since it's sealed, except for the ends but I'd weld the pipes together witht the muffler.

Scope, $250 for dual tailpipes bent for our Trucks is fairly cheap. If you plan on doing a body lift, wait to put the dual exhuast on, it'll make it alot easier for the shop to bend them thus should drop the price down some.

Thanks for the advice on the welded muffler and the mud. I didn't know about that, I thought they were all airtight.

For the cost of having them welded, I'll never clamp a muffler. I would have put the Dynomax on myself, but I don't have a lift any more and I wasn't spending $65 in gas to go back to my parents' house to do it.

But back on topic...hmmm, how can I spend Interscopes' money (but not a lot of it)...

Tint your front windows
Paint your calipers silver (especially if you're getting those Edge wheels)
Find scrap steel and make your own armor.

I can probably think of more but I'm trying to work on a research paper. This site is just more interesting. I want to get to bed before 4am, though. Gotta work tomorrow. Hooray full time job and graduate school!

pick up a job at the local dominos delivering pizzas!

Lol I have a local job at an Irish pub which pays better than te theater I was at. I totally forgot about window tint!!! Anyone have quotes on that from experience? I don't want te stick on stuff...

I also thought about black head light housings and white lights. Thats under $200 to do! One of my dads highschool buddies got n touch with him the other day and is starting a powder coating business so maybe powder coating the calipers? Not sure of that'd work better or not. I also thought about the billet grille insert or something like that.

you should spend the money you have on gas and go exploring! anywhere is good, on road or off, just go find something new youve never seen before. just enjoy your rig, save some cash and before you know it you will enough dough to do another mod! i remember the feeling i had when i first got my licesne and i would just fill up the tank on my hoopty at age 16 and just explore san francisco all night. thats what i do now, but in an explorer and through every backroad and trail in california. just go drive somewhere and report back what you find!

To get back to the title of this post, if you're bored in college your classes aren't hard enough or your classmates are partying without you...maybe even both!

You're in college man...someone else said it first...just keep it clean.

x2on Lono100--go Exploring...just bring some friends with you!

x3 on that recommendation. Before I parked the '69 Cougar for my Accord due to gas prices while I was in college, I used to get away from the everyday stresses of college life by hopping in the Cougar and driving around for an hour or so on the country roads through farmland. Helped clear my head and was tons of fun.
