I recently purchased a 2003 Ford Explorer with the 4.6 V8. I really like the vehicle, and I noticed today a slight ticking when the engine is cold. Well, I look and sure enough three of the studs for the manifold are snapped off. Strangely enough, the studs snapped right where the nut was, so there is a good chunk of the stud still sticking out (if the manifold were removed).
I only notice this on the passenger side. Drivers side doesn't make any noise.
How much should I expect to pay to have the studs removed and replaced? Will I need a new manifold, or should my original be ok as long as a new gasket is used?
Thanks
