What is a "brack light"?

Make sure the brake pedal is releasing fully(pull on it a couple of times and check the lights). I'm not sure if the brake switch on the X is adjustable (any experts?). If it is, that's prob. your problem. If it is not, the switch prob. has a short. The brake switch is the only place the brake lights can get 12volts. Are you sure it is not the running lights on?

Sounds like a defective brake light switch to me.

Good luck.....

I have not seen an explorer do this before, but I had a '65 Mustang that I had to relace the brake light switch on every 2 years.

ha~! i fixed it ! i just looked up under the dash and grabed the switch for the brake ( or the one thats on the pedle) and gave it a jecking;) so it works now

Same thing happened to me. You only fixed it temporarily. The spring that actuates the brake light is worn out. Make sure your brake lights go on when you hit the pedal. A replacement from ford I think is 13.95. Real easy to replace. Took all but 3 minutes. You just have to put your feet on top of the seat and get your head underneath the dash so you can see what your doing.

Shorty, my bill is in the mail:D
