Brake Fluid Reservoir Stressed or Just Normal?

So...the brakes on my ST are spongy and weak. Going to replace them. I noticed the reservoir looks like it has had some major stress on it. Am I correct, or is this normal for this model? I have used a Motive power bleeder on my 1st gen with no issues. I was wondering if someone was trying something like that on this.
