My brake lights don't light up when I hit the brakes. I found that if I move the sensor on the top of the brake pedal around, they will come on. What's involved in replacing the sensor? Thanks

Brake Light

I hade the same thing happen to mine about a month ago. Cost me fifty bucks at the local garage. Just get new switch and or see if the wire is loose. No big deal.

Either the switch came loose or is bad... usually they're cheap, and are held in place with two screws and a pair of wires. It usually takes longer to contort yourself up under the dash than it does to replace the brake light switch.

According to the Haynes "bible", there should be a retaining clip holding the switch to the top of the brake pedal arm. Remove the clip, remove the switch from pedal, and unplug the switch. Installation is the reverse.

Yeah it was an easy fix, but trying to contort myself under the dash, that was tough. I'm 6'3". What I ended up doing was going in under the dash head first and wrapping my legs around the seat. Man what a headrush! A girl I really like at school drove by when I was fixing it and made fun of me. She took a picture. I'll have to post it. Oh well, we've got a date this Friday.
