Ok so i was gifted a 94' XLT 4.0L, it runs good after replacing a vacume valve on the trans. But Im having an issue with my brake lights. The issue is that they do not work...at all. Ive checked every thing I can, being a former avaitionn electrician for the army I figured this would be easy. Ive basicly got it narrowed don to only one possible explination. where the output wire coumes off the pedle switch, it ties in with wireing going to the turn switch, upper brake light and powertrain control mod as well as C.C amp. Now since my hazards and turn signals work I have deduced that this tie in point is disconnected, not sure if its a plug or a splice. Since my C.C. also is not working, this makes sense. Anyone know where I can find this plug or splice?

Do you have a wiring diagram? Or anything at all? I will look through my books and post it if I can find it. I am using my dad's computer now so I do not have my books in front of me.

I have a basic diagram, shows the wireing system for the brake lights, but does not list locations of plugs, splices, ect... The diagram at least helped me to narrow it to the splice, its the only thing left that I can imagine it being.

The Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual if you have it, will locate splices and such in the back of the book. Look at your diagram and find the splice number. Find that number on the drawings, and you should be able to locate the general area of the splice.

Do you have the Factory EVTM, or a chiltons/haynes manual? I can post the drawings if you need them.

So im a total dumbass!! Spent days trying to trouble shoot the brake lights, tested every wire for shorts and continuity. Just as I was ready to unload my .44 on the thing is pulled the switch off the pedlle and pusshed it by hand. Wa-freakin-la the brake lights poped on!!!! Turns out that I forgot to remove a little plastic bushing that was a protective part on the new switch. Well that little peice of plastic was stoping the plunger from depressing the switch fully. I feel like the worlds biggest idiot.

Its always the simplest of problems. Good thing you got it working before you turned it into steel swiss cheese!!
