My brake lights do not work at all on my 1994 Ford Explorer. I checked the fuse and the bulbs and all are in working order. I keep reading about the brake light switch. Does seem the most logical next step.

Welcome to the forum!

You can test the brake light switch easily with a multimeter. Check for power to the switch, and check the switch for continuity when it's activated.

Hi CM,
Welcome to the forum
Check the brake light switch. It is under the dash conected to the brake pedal arm. Un plug it and jump it with a wire. If the lights work then the switch is bad.
I added a couple of photos. Hope this helps.:salute:

Yes, I would go with the brake light switch. My old 94 Ranger had this problem, $7 fix for a new switch.

The bad part is you kinda have to be very flexible to get to the sucker, as it is in a frustrating position. (Well on a single cab ranger it was. Explorer maybe easier.)
