Im new here, but after browsing for hours on the forums here i have tried everything i can think of and suggestions in other posts. One day after work i went out to my explorer only to find when i started it up it would not shift from park, as well as the brake lights where not working. so i came to the forums here after searching around for a while and found that the key in unlock position shift to neutral trick worked. so that led me to brake light switch and fuse after replacing both still no luck, so i checked the multi-function controller. It was alittle dirty so i cleaned it and everything was where it needed to be, still no luck. I then took a piece of wire and connected the harness female connectors together, again brake lights. sorry about the book, just thought it would help with pointing me in the right direction.

If it helps anymore running lights work just great.

thanks in advance!

Do your brakes function normally otherwise? IIRC, ordinarily, the shift lever cannot be moved out of Park unless the brake pedal is depressed. I don't know if this safety feature is accomplished all mechanically or if there is some electronic or hydraulic communication involved.

Yes, brakes function well, and in order to bypass the safety feature we have to depress the pedal.

Could it be my LOM?

Figured it out thanks
