brake lights question

On my 96 explorer 4x4, The only brake light that works is the 3rd brake light.
I checked the bulbs and the sockets and they are good, I have tail lights but no brake lights, any ideas?

"trailer package pigtail" socket near / under the bump.... check / clean the plug. A few posts on this type of "fix" with success.
