I use and highly recommend Carbon Metallic pads from Performance Friction on the front and rear of my X and all of my other vehicles.

I never tried anything else but Albany. Only because it has a lifetime warranty. You could change it year after year for free. The initial cost is less than $19 per set at Autozone.

raybestos quiet stop are nice pads. a little pricy though.

What about Hawk Brake pads...has anyone used those brand of pads before? They are supposed to be much better than stock. Or how about the brand that The Tire Rack.com carries ( I don't remember the name of them ).

Has anyone on this board come across any of these brand of pads? Thanx.

I fitted cross drilled and scalloped rotors and Carbon Metallic pads from Performance Friction. They worked great on my V-8 AWD. Once, when the PF's were out of stock, I tried the ceramic pads on the front. What a waste of time and money! Back with the Carbon Metallic pads from Performance Friction and loving the difference. The PF's also seemed to last longer and never has any squeals or squeaks.

Thanks guys, for all the respnses!

Wagner Thermo break pads. Love them!!!
You pay for what you get in break pads.

We installed these on my buddy's Accord along with some power slots. He said that they really have to heat up before they start grabbing (like a racing pad) but they are intended for the street?

The other thing I don't like about them is they took the nice shiney surface of his power slots and made them dull and blackened. Perhaps it is just the break in but I've never seen a pad do that before.

See my 2c worth above.
PF CM brakes have a noticeable bite when applied. Ceramic never did feel as good, never provided the braking performance, wore out quicker and cost more.

Bendex are VERY dusty.

All in all an unimpressive pad.

I know this thread is what do you recomend, but this is what I don't recomend.

I had ceramics on mine for 5k and they were history.

I put Napa semi metallics on this time....I also adjusted the rear brake <grin> which could have affected the mileage on the ceramics... :-)

I didnt liket he way the ceramics felt on the X....now I have ceramics (same brand) on my wife's 98 Malibu and they are fine so far.
