Hello everyone,

Hopefully you can give me som advice on what might be wrong, or has anyone ever had this problem.

Vehicle: 2003 Ranger FX 4 Level 2

Problem: The rear brake seems to be over self adjusting and making the rear brakes drag. The vehicle has been dropped off at the dealer and they say that nothing is wrong. I have been under it twice and have had to adjust them down.
Any ideas??? Anyone ever have this problem??

Thanks allot Rage

What makes you think the rear brakes are dragging? When the rear brakes are adjusted properly they will rub a little bit. If you feel a lot of resistance to rotation when you lift one side, remember you have a limited slip differential that will make it difficult to turn just one wheel.

Because when I jack up the rear end of the truck, one rear tire spins easy and the other is hard as hell to turn, plus the smell of brakes getting extemely hot when I am at the stop light.

Thanks

Sounds like you definitely have a rear brake that is adjusting too tight. I don't understand how the dealer can say nothing is wrong. Take it in there with the brake binding and smelling up the place. Maybe they will change there minds.

Maybe the automatic adjuster is hooked up wrong or is the wrong part. It should only adjust up when stopping in reverse or when the parking brake is used.

Most people have problems with the adjusters not working at all. They get a little corrosion and freeze up and do not adjust automatically anymore.

Cable maybe sticking.
